LBJ Museum of San Marcos
The Lyndon Baines Johnson Museum of San Marcos hosted its third annual 60s Night party and fundraiser on Friday, the 3rd of August 2012, from 7 to 9:30 pm. The 60s Night event gave the museum the opportunity to show case its new audio visual equipment and newly renovated second floor of the museum and public meeting spaces that was officially opened with a Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on July 13th. The event included the showing of a 1960s DVD edited by Museum Board Member Sherwood Bishop on the first floor, 1960s exhibits on both floors, a silent auction, live music, a trivia contest, a costume contest, and a coffee house provided by Tantra Coffee House by co-owner and “barista” Ian Lee.
Singers and songwriters Dennis Jay, The Ash Family and Jesse Sublett performed for the party goers throughout the evening. Martha Lindeman and Jordan Law won first prize for best costume, Museum Board Member Teresa Hobby second prize and Nevin Cunningham won third prize in the woman’s best costume while Jeremy Bentley, Aart Millecam, and Mike McKinster won first, second and third prize, respectively, in the men’s category.
